Fillings

We offer both tooth colored (resin) and silver colored fillings (amalgam). Resin fillings are always the material we use for front teeth so your smile looks natural. We typically give you the option of resin or amalgam for fillings in the back of the mouth. Amalgam fillings are often a good option for back teeth because the material is strong.

After a filling, most patients are tender for a few days, especially near the injection area. Resin fillings tend to be cold sensitive for up to a week after placement, so don’t be surprised if you experience some sensitivity. If you have pain after a filling appointment, please call the office—we may need to adjust the filling (at no extra cost to you) to relieve your pain.
