Crowns and Bridges

Crowns
and Bridges

You might need a crown if you have broken a tooth or a filling so large that there’s not much tooth left.

Crowns come in a variety of materials and quality levels. At Cornerstone, we use local laboratories (no overseas labs to cut costs!) and we choose the highest quality materials. Since we use a professional lab to make your crown, we’ll see you for two appointments: first, a prep appointment to get your tooth ready, take impressions, and custom fit a temporary crown, and then a second, shorter appointment a few weeks later to place the permanent crown.

Bridges are a lot like crowns. Usually the teeth on each side of a missing tooth will be crowned and attached to a crown in the middle that replaces the missing tooth.

Crown or Bridge off?
If your crown or bridge ever comes off, call the office to schedule an appointment to recement it. In the meantime, use a little dab of Vaseline® or Fixodent® to keep it in place temporarily. Whatever you do, don’t use superglue! It damages both the crown and the tooth and you’ll need an entirely new crown.
